WHAT CAN I EXPECT WHEN INTERNING WITH WB MUSIC THERAPY?

Longer internship time period than usual (September-May) with breaks built-in and Friday’s off

Participation in planning and executing two annual community music events

WHERE WILL I WORK?

Two outpatient private practice clinic spaces (1 in Lebanon County and 1 in Dauphin County)Two

Assisted living and nursing care facilities

Early childhood care centers
-
Music therapy business owners’ home offices
You will need reliable transportation to take you in and around Dauphin, Lebanon and Cumberland counties.
WHO WILL I WORK WITH?
In clinical settings, you'll work with:

groups of young, neurotypical children
-
older adult groups and individuals with varying kinds of age- and dementia- related diagnoses
-
individuals varying between ages of 3-65 years with needs related to congenital and acquired diagnoses
In music therapy settings, you'll work with:

nurses (all levels of practice)
-
administrative staff
-
activities directors and staff
-
custodians
-
family members of clients
-
child care directors and providers

WHAT SUPERVISORY APPROACHES WILL BE UTILIZED?
We supervise from a lense of personal experience in the private practice and clinical music therapy setting. We encourage unabashed inquisitivity of the self and strive to help interns understand the positive impact increasing self-awareness has in the development of a board-certified music therapist. Supervising the music therapy intern is entering into a relationship with open communication, accountability, and encouragement.
